How long have you been practising medicine?
I have been practising medicine for over 24 years. After graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2000, I undertook my internship and residency at Tamworth Base Hospital in rural NSW. A fabulous experience made possible through being awarded a Commonwealth Rural Cadetship and John Flynn Scholarship.
On moving to Brisbane with my husband, I worked as a house officer at the Mater hospital in South Brisbane. It was through this experience of working closely with patients that I decided to undertake my General Practice training. I gained my fellowship in 2007.
How long have you been practising medicine in the Albany Creek area?
I have been working in Albany Creek for over 20 years. My family and I have lived in the area since 2007. We love the local area and are active members in the local community through our previous involvement with the schools our two boys attended, and ongoing involvement through sporting clubs and various business.
My long time GP colleague and business partner John Tran and I created Everyday Medical in 2015 with its intimate feel and colourful rooms and both proudly continue to enjoy working in the practice with the great team and the new family owners, who acquired the practice in early 2024.
One of my passions is caring for multiple generations within a family, and part of this is working with and visiting one of our local nursing homes.
What inspired you to become a doctor?
I always knew I wanted to do something involving medicine. My first degree was a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at The University of Technology, Sydney where I graduated with first class honours.
My first role in medicine was in the area of cancer research, but I found myself unsatisfied by the limited interaction with people. I wanted to be more involved in the day to day of helping people.
General Practice has enabled this. I love working with my patients of all ages: building strong relationships through getting to know them and their families and doing my small part with our team to assist them on their journeys.
What’s your passion personally?
My greatest passion is my family; I cherish the time I spend with them. In my down time I love to cook or get out into the garden. My guilty pleasure is immersing myself in a great movie.
What’s your passion professionally?
As a GP, the interaction with my patients is what continues to drive me professionally. I am a true generalist and enjoy all aspects of General Practice. The most rewarding aspect of my job is being the constant factor in the ongoing healthcare management of my patients.
I am most interested in Women’s health, including antenatal care, Implanon insertion and removal, and the care of young children and babies. I have completed level 1 Mental Health training and this enables me to support my patients through some of the toughest times in their lives. I continue to strive for excellence and provide the best care possible to every patient.

I graduated from the University of Queensland’s School of Medicine in 1997.
I then worked throughout south-east Queensland in various capacities – from the Mater and Logan Hospitals to St George, Dirranbandi, Surat and Bundaberg before finally settling in Albany Creek.
How long have you been practising medicine in the Albany Creek area?
I attained my GP fellowship from the Royal Australian College of General Practice in 2004 whilst working in Albany Creek.
It’s a great place for families and I’ve enjoyed being part of the local community, playing a positive role in the ongoing health of my patients who live and work in the area.
What inspired you to become a Doctor?
Medicine has allowed me to connect with people on a very personal level. It provides an opportunity for me to be a key support factor through both the highs and lows of my patients and their family’s health.
I see one of my greatest roles in being someone’s doctor, is to ensure they never feel alone in their times of need. Witnessing the impact of compassion, kindness and inclusion on others is one of the most rewarding things I could hope for as a doctor.
The science of medicine is my other inspiration. The human body is both wonderful and complex: seeing the positive impacts that medicine can have on it are truly awe-inspiring. A desire to understand these impacts and their complexities is a key driver for me both personally and professionally.
What’s your passion personally?
I’m a self-confessed foodie. I love everything about food: cooking it, eating it, learning about it, talking about it, travelling for it.
What’s your passion professionally?
I believe that the best outcomes are achieved when I work collaboratively with my patients on their ongoing health management. It contributes to a much better and more positive patient experience, where they feel like they have ownership over their health plan and outcomes.
As part of this collaborative process, I ensure my patients are equipped with accurate information so they can make wise choices about their care. This builds strong levels of trust between my patients and myself and also encourages clear and honest lines of communication.
My key areas of interest are men’s health, lifestyle management, paediatrics and aged care.

Dr George Georgas
MBBS (Qld), FRACGP
How long have you been practising medicine?
I graduated from the University of Queensland School of Medicine in 1994. I then spent the next three years in the hospital setting where I gained the experience needed to prepare me for my career in General Practice. It was during my time training at the Royal Children’s Hospital where I developed a special interest in paediatrics and worked to gain an advanced understanding in this area of medicine.
How long have you been practising medicine in the Albany Creek area?
I started General Practice in 1998. My first General Practice roles were in Albany Creek and Aspley. During my first year out, I continued to maintain my role and subsequent skill development within the hospital environment by working in the Emergency Department of a private hospital.
I fortunately became well known quite quickly in Albany Creek and have devoted all my time to the area. I began as a generalist GP but as time went on I developed a passion for aged care – it is wonderful to support the elderly. They have given so much to the community and deserve dignity and comfort as they live out their final years.
What inspired you to become a Doctor?
I was initially inspired to do medicine by the guidance counsellor at school. He assessed my qualities and suggested I do medicine – I am so grateful for his thoughtful direction and looking back I would not change anything about my career pathway. My motivation and inspiration have always come from my colleagues and patients.
What’s your passion personally?
My family is my biggest passion. We live locally and my sons have both grown up and gone to school in the area. We love to get involved in the local community as well as with our church’s activities. When I want to get away from it all, I love to mountain bike or get out in the four-wheel drive to explore our beautiful country.
What’s your passion professionally?
I have developed skills in palliation and in dealing with extremely complex medical conditions: this allows me to help my elderly patients in the best way possible. I continue to be passionate about general medicine and paediatrics. Basically I love my job as a family doctor and working with the whole family, from birth through to death and everything in between.
I am most interested in paediatrics, aged care and palliative care.

How long have you been practising medicine in the Albany Creek area?
I have lived and worked in Albany Creek for over 20 years, and have worked at Everyday Medical for about 7 years.
What inspired you to become a Doctor?
During the final years in high school, a number of people close to me were affected by medical conditions that were both devastating but also potentially treatable. It was this awe of what medicine could achieve and how as a doctor you could really make a difference to people’s lives that inspired me to apply to study a degree in medicine. Our family doctor was a knowledgeable, caring, kind and compassionate man who was a great listener and communicator. He was a wonderful inspiration to me.
What’s your passion personally?
I have three children who mean everything to me and we enjoy bike riding, hiking and browsing the local markets for fresh produce. We also have an energetic border collie and two rescue cats who are part of the family.
What’s your passion professionally?
The most special part of General Practice in its great diversity. Being able to offer continuity of care for our patients, supporting them through hard times and seeing them experience the joyful times. I enjoy developing a strong sense of rapport with my patients and watching families and their extended families grow and develop over time.
My areas of interest are Women’s Health, Paediatrics, family medicine, preventative medicine, managing chronic medical conditions and performing skin examinations.
